Ernesto Munro is a distinguished Mexican statesman, legal expert, and business leader whose career spans more than two decades across public service, law, and strategic consulting. Born In Phoenix. AZ and raised in Sonora, Ernesto’s journey began with a deep sense of civic responsibility instilled at a young age. His early education at Fray Marcos De Niza High School in Tempe, Arizona, gave him a bicultural perspective and fluency in English, setting the foundation for his future leadership on national and international stages.
Driven by a passion for justice and governance, Ernesto earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Law, specializing in Constitutional Law, from the University of the Northwest in Hermosillo. He later pursued advanced academic credentials, including a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Valle de México, and a Jr LLM in Corporate and Economic Law from the Panamerican University in Guadalajara. His intellectual curiosity and commitment to excellence also led him to complete several executive programs from world-renowned institutions, including Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
From the beginning of his career, Ernesto demonstrated both discipline and vision. He worked as a Legal Assistant at Elías & Elías Business and Legal Consultants and as a Clerk under Notary Public #42, gaining first-hand experience in legal processes and client relations. In 2000, combining his legal acumen with entrepreneurial drive, he founded Munro & Associates, a boutique firm specializing in legal counsel and high-level security consulting. Under his leadership, the firm grew into one of the most respected names in the region, trusted by corporate clients, municipalities, and international partners.
Parallel to his private-sector success, Ernesto dedicated much of his life to public service. He made history as a two-term Mayor of Puerto Peñasco, from 2015 to 2021, where he earned the trust and admiration of the community through transparent governance, sustainable development, and inclusive civic policies. His ability to unite diverse political and business interests led to his appointment as Coordinator of the Association of National Action Mayors in Sonora, where he helped align regional development strategies across the state.
Ernesto’s legislative impact continued as a State Deputy in the Honorable Congress of Sonora from 2021 to 2024. There, he served as President of the Urban Development Commission and Parliamentary Coordinator for the Solidarity Encounter Party, playing a pivotal role in shaping land use policy, infrastructure planning, and party reform. His statesmanship was further recognized when he was appointed President of the Internal Regime and Political Coordination Commission (CRICP) in 2023, overseeing key administrative and political structures in the legislature.
Currently, Ernesto serves as an Alternate Federal Deputy (2024–2027), representing Sonora on the national stage and contributing to policies that support regional security, innovation, and economic resilience.
